As part of the J&K Govt. initiative under My Town My Pride 2.0 Programme, Director Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu, Dr. Vikas Gupta, JKAS, Visiting Officer for Zone -IV of JMC interacted with the Corporators of 14 wards of the Jammu South, at Institute of Engineers, Channi Himmat. During the interaction Hon'ble Deputy Mayor Mr. Baldev Singh, Chairmen of the Standing Committees were also present. Corporators and the prominent citizen of the area apprised the visiting officer about the problems being faced by the public related to basic civil amenities including power and water supply and also suggested the measures for the beautification and development of the Jammu City. The Visiting officer also handed over the cheques and keys to the eligible beneficiaries of zone IV under PMAY-Urban scheme being implemented by the J&K Housing Board.
Further the visiting officer visited Govt. Higher Secondary School Channi Himmat where sports and cultural activities were held and the Visiting officer along with the Hon’ble Dy. Mayor and corporator of the area undertook a plantation drive. The visiting officer appreciated the initiative of maintaining a herbal garden by the students of the school. The students were also awared by the Visiting officer about the drug menace and encouraged students to take forward the nation towards Nasha Mukt Bharat and Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat.
The visiting officer also visited the Pond at Dilli where commendable work has been done by the officers in rejuvenating it. On the complaint of the locals and the corporator of the area, directions were issued on spot to the municipal authorities to immediately check/stop the flow of oily discharge into the newly constructed pond and the people appreciated the efforts of the Visiting Officer.
Visit was also made at Material Recovery Facility at Bandu Rakh which is processing 05 metric tonnes of dry waste daily. The visiting officer also visited Jan Abhiyaan Camp at Bharat Mata Mandir, Trikuta Nagar and Modern Cattle Pound/Gaushala at Seri Khurd Nagrotra.
The Visiting officer interacted with the various departments in the exhibition held at Gulshan ground and afterwards visited the Ration Depots in the area and took stock of the ration status in the depots.
The houses of PMAY-Urban beneficiaries were also visited by the Officer. Under MTMP 2.0, a camp was organized by the Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Jammu at Shiv Market Near Railway Station where on spot registration of artisans and dealers was done and the efforts of the department were appreciated by the artisan community.
